Ready to try dermal fillers? Here’s what you need to know.
There is no doubt that Botox is the leader in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. For many people a visit to their cosmetic injector is as common as a visit to the hairdresser. But next in line is dermal filler injections such as Restalyn, Juvederm, Voluma to name a few. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 2.69 million dermal filler procedures are performed annually and that grows every year.
Why so popular?
Dermal fillers are minimally invasive, quick, safe, and give great proven results.
They are powerfully effective at correcting the volume loss in the face that happens over time. They restore fullness to flat cheeks, reduce vertical lip lines or “smokers lines”, enhance lip volume that naturally thins with age, and gently fill deep lines around the nose and mouth.
What at exactly are dermal fillers?
Fillers are made of a naturally occurring substance called Hyaluronic Acid. They work by attracting water to the injection site and stimulating collagen production around the treatment area. This improves the skin's volume and texture, filling in creases and lines, plumping up the lips and cheeks, and enhancing facial contours. As you can see from the photo below, the result is beautiful, subtle, natural and still 100% you!
What is the treatment like?
The procedure is largely painless as the fillers contain lidocaine. After the initial injection, patients feel very little. Lip fillers may be more painful as this is a sensitive area. At Beautoxetc we use a proprietary topical anesthesia as well. Plan on spending about an hour with us including pre and post treatment evaluation and care. You may experience mild swelling however we send patients home with a supply of arnica cream and ice pack. As with any injection, bruising is always a risk, however this can be minimized and often prevented with excellent technique and after care.
